The military ministry exists to welcome and embrace military members and their families as well as care for the families when the service member is deployed. Additionally, we have a commitment to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by equipping the military members and families worldwide.
We believe in doing this by focusing on 3 main areas:
When They Are Home
We believe it is important to minister to the men and women of the military when their home in all areas of their lives with an expressed focus on these 3 areas:
- PTSD We will minister to those affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through the use of an annual Bridges to Healing (BTH) training event for chaplains, survivors, and spouses affected by PTSD, as well as following up this event with Soldier and/or Spouse small group bible studies using the BTH curriculum.
- Marriage We will do this through many avenues including holding annual OCF Marriage seminars.
- Money We know there can be no bigger stresser in a military household than finances so we commit to helping in this area with financial classes.
When They Are Away
We commit to caring for service members when they are deployed through the following areas:
- Equipping them with training and tools to reach their fellow service members for Jesus Christ
- Supporting them through prayer
- Showing our support with the sending of care packages
Spouses and Families
We commit so the support of the military spouses and families through the difficult time of Military Deployment.
We will do this in many areas but focus on two:
- PNO We recognize that being a single spouse can be difficult so we will regularly sponsor Parents Nights Out where we will provide a safe place to drop off your kids and you can have some time alone.
- Care Ministry Even the smallest of tasks can seem daunting so we will put together a care ministry to help with household tasks and troubleshooting for the military families.
Chaplaincy
- We want to work hand in hand with military chaplains so we will commit to supporting them and work toward a seamless partnership with them.
- We will do this in many areas but focus on two
- Keeping them informed of and invited to church services, functions, conferences, and other special events.
- Supporting them through prayer and practical means on base as needed.
